It was around 2019 or 2020 when I started thinking about all of the artwork sitting on my hard drive after years of drawing and design work. I remember having done a lot and I would sometimes tumble across something I'd forgotten I'd done and was rather impressed.
I felt like / feel like there is some commercial appeal to some of my work at least and wanted to find a way to be able to at least offer some prints of things on my website so I started searching around the internet and started finding the Print on Demand sites like Curioos, RedBubble, Zazzle and several others.
I got hooked once I realized how easy it was to upload my artwork and splash it across innumerable merchandise and I got hooked. I got more hooked once I found Shopify and PoD sites like Printful, Printify, etc that allowed to create my own store and set my own prices.
Pretty soon I was hooked on putting my designs on 'STUFF' and then creating more designs to put on more stuff and before too long I literally had THOUSANDS of products with my artwork on it. I started breaking the ideas down and branding them to create collections.
I had so many items I maxed out the Shopify platform. They said there's a limit for stability sake.
My real issue was in the marketing and finding my audience. I'd more or less 'fallen' into the store because it was so easy. I linked it to FB and IG, paid for marketing on FB and Google ads and watched the traffic numbers SOAR. But, I wasn't getting conversions and I couldn't figure out why.
I tried tweaking things a couple of times, but ultimately marketing was costing me way too much and since it was just me trying to figure this out it got too overwhelming, so after 2 years I shut it down until I could strategize better.
The really cool thing is, all the designs are still waiting on the PoD vendor sites waiting for me to re-link things back up.
Below are some examples, I think these are from Curioos, which shut down recently (which is fine I didn't care for their platform anyway and they wouldn't respond to requests to delete my account, but no longer and issue).
Check out the Collections section for more examples.
I really want to get this up and running again.
